The NOVItest Premium Bresle Patch is a premium solution for soluble salt testing in accordance with ISO 8502-6:2020. Protective coatings professionals understand the importance of surface cleanliness on metal substrates before paint application. The Bresle test, according to ISO 8502-6, is one of the most widely used and trusted methods in the industry for measuring soluble salts on metal surfaces prior to painting.
NOVItest Premium Bresle Patches are among the most advanced products on the market today. Manufactured from medical-grade materials in a cleanroom environment, they ensure minimal ionic contamination and deliver reliable test results every time. Contamination-free application is easy thanks to the pre-removed center and high-strength, non-permanent adhesive. The patch construction, including the Shield Guard and a non-stick peel tab, makes removal after testing quick and easy.
Novitest Bresle Patches are traceable and certified.
Surface contamination testing is an important part of the job of a paint inspector in the field of protective coatings. Testing for soluble salts is one of the more complex but most likely also one of the most important tasks of the paint inspector. Typically, the Bresle method following the ISO8502-6:2020 is used to determine this type of surface contamination.
The NOVItest Premium Bresle Patch is designed to make soluble salt testing easier, more reliable, and more consistent in real-world inspection conditions.
Field testing is rarely performed under ideal circumstances. Inspectors often work in difficult locations, harsh weather, and poor lighting, yet still need to obtain accurate results in accordance with ISO 8502-6:2020. To make testing easier, reduce the risk of operator error, and improve reliability NOVItest has carefully redesigned the traditional Bresle Patch to improve ease of use and reduce the risk of testing errors, without compromising compliance with the standard.
The round test area eliminates corners, which are often the most vulnerable points for leakage.
Manufactured in a cleanroom environment using high-end materials, the patches achieve very low ionic contamination, typically 1 mg/m². Low patch contamination helps produce more realistic and reliable field test results.
Made from medical-grade flexible latex, a material capable of meeting the requirements of ISO 8502-6:2020 Annex A. Its flexibility also helps reduce the risk of trapped air by compensating for excess volume during testing.
The flexible latex allows the operator to use the massage technique to move the extraction liquid efficiently across the test area, improving the dissolution of soluble salts. This is not possible in the same way with polyurethane or rigid plastic patches.
Provides secure, tight, and leak-free bonding to the test surface while still allowing easy removal after the test.
A dedicated layer between the surface and the foam layer helps prevent tearing or breaking during removal, making post-test removal easier and safer.
The yellow-marked non-stick peel tab makes it easy to remove the protective liner without hassle or unwanted contamination. It also provides a convenient grip for removing the patch after use.
NOVItest Bresle Patches do not require the operator to remove a center section before use. This avoids a fiddly handling step and reduces one of the most common causes of user-induced contamination.
Supplied in a light- and dustproof plastic container to extend shelf life and keep the patches clean and in pristine condition.
Each Premium Bresle Patch is individually marked with a unique batch code for full traceability.
Every batch is extensively tested and certified to meet the mandatory requirements of ISO 8502-6:2020 Annex A.
